It is nothing to worry about. My computer does it too, and I have tried to search the computer for any viruses, spy-ware, etc. Nothing came up after this, so I would not worry about it.

Sometime it depends on your monitor refresh rate, if you catch it at the tight time it will refresh your desktop.
also its almost like a wake up call to the desktop.
also what sometimes happens is that your puter treats different programs like environments. Your Internet browser is one environment if your typing up a paper or some that is another environment. So when you go back tot the desktop its almost like switching environments so it refreshes just to kinda kick start it.

It sometimes happened on my PC, too.
It seemed to me that was a common problem to most of the PC users.
