So you have all heard of Mark Foley in Florida. My question for you is why do you vote for scum like this into office. My favorite thing about Mark (how sick is this) is that he served as the chairman of the House Caucus on Missing and Exploited Children. Now he gets caught making sexual advances towards underage boys. What a fraud. Why did you guys sit on this when you knew about months in advance, only to blow up in your face recently. The guy was warned about this back in 2005. Do you think this could possible hurt your chances of winning seats in other states?

Why does everyone assume I'm a Democrat? Is it because I have a Spanish last name? Did you ever consider that I am an independant, and I side with neither party. I'm not trying to rationalize with Democrats, I just want your feelings on this topic.

Not really a Republican but I will answer this anyway.

I don't know who all knew about this months before, but it sure is convenient for the dems that it's coming out just before election. Do you think maybe some dems knew and sat on it until now? How ethical is that? If this guy was trying to exploit boys for months and somebody (at ABC maybe, or whatever dems leaked it out) sat on it until just before election, that sounds like they are no more ethical than he is.

The people who voted for him didn't know. How could they? He is sick and should never have been in the position he was, but obviously his constituents didn't know what was going on. It's the fat-cat politicians (on both sides) that knew and didn't tell.

And why do you look so angry?

Gerry Eastman Studds (born May 12, 1937) is a retired American politician. He served as a DEMOCRATIC Congressman for Massachusetts from 1973 until 1997. He was the first openly homosexual member of the US Congress and, more generally, the first openly gay national politician in the US. In 1983, he admitted to having a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old male page in 1973 and was censured by the House of Representatives.
He acknowledged that it had been inappropriate to engage in a relationship with a subordinate, and said his actions represented "a very serious error in judgement."

As the House read their censure of him, Studds turned his back on the speaker and members in the chamber and ignored them. Later, at a press conference with the former page standing beside him, the two stated that what had happened between them was nobody's business but their own.

Now...Most Rep...like everyone outside of FL didn't vote for him, and I am sure that he did a very good job of hiding truth during the campaine. That being said....There are many Dem who have been involved in scandels as well...it is just amazing to me how many Dems forget that the start slamming the Rep....now don't get me wrong....the Reps are just as guilty of that also...people only see what they want and forget about the things that make them look bad.....I hate to use Clinton again but that is the most recent....Sure Monica was older and female but Clinton still had an affair with someone other than his wife and then lied to a grand jury about it....not as bad but still not a model citizen...still considered a good leader....
I will consede that what Foley did was worse and he should be punished for it, to the full extent of the law...however don't forget about the misgivings of your own party also.

I don't think his political party had anything to do with it, truly. I think he's just a straight up dirtbag. I have noticed alot of Republicans getting caught doing some pretty immoral things--that is not to say there aren't Democrats who are sleazy, but Republicans are the party shoving morals down peoples' throats which is what makes he whole thing so much more appalling.

Our local Republican congressman, Don Sherwood, ran on the family calues platform, and got arrested in 04 after the woman he was having an affair with for 5 years accused him of strangling her! It was settled out of court and he did admit to the incident. Another dirtbag...

It has occurred to me that the ones yelling the loudest about morals, values, etc, are the ones with the most to hide.

And yet, Democrats keep putting people like Ted Kennedy (murderer, alcoholic), Patrick Kennedy (drug addict), Barney Frank (male prositution ringleader), William Jefferson and James Trafficente (corruption), Robert Byrd (openly racist, former Grand Wizard of KKK), etc. into office.

Look up the scandals of Democrats on both State and Federal levels, and you'll see that they are just as, if not more corrupt, than Republicans.

I did not vote for this individual. Nor did any Republican living outside of Florida. Does an inidividual represent the whole in your mind? Are you willing to be judged by this same standard?

Most of the people who voted for Foley did not know his propensity for stupidity. I know I sound like I am defending the Republicans, but they did not know. Now they do. It is called learning. We will see what comes of it.
