It is not safe to try to lose wieght while you are pregnant. In fact, you are supposed to eat 300 more calories a day than you usually do. But, if you are like me and overwieght to begin with, then when you start eating healthy and drinking lots of water, you will probably shed some pounds in the beginning of your pregnancy. Walking also helps. You need to concentrate on the amount of fat that you will gain and keeping that under control. Overwieght women should only gain around 15lbs during the entire pregnancy and that is only the wieght of the baby and fluids and such. A normal woman should gain up to 30lbs because she will need more fat reserves. Now is not the time to worry about your size really because no matter what, you will get bigger, just try to be healthy for your baby. Congrats :)

You do not want to lose weight while pregnant, the food that you eat is norishment for the baby. The less nourishment you give the baby, the less he takes in, and chances are you will have a child with complications. Just wait until after the baby, if you are not breast feeding, to go on the diet. If you are breastfeeding, it is a good way to loose weight, because your body is taking all the fat, and other stuff thats good for the baby and using it for the milk. I lost a lot of weight by three months of breast feeding, a little over 20 pds.

Do not try to lose weight while you're pregnant, unless you are morbidly obese. The best thing to do is ask your ob/gyn. I was overweight when I was pregnant. I did not in the least attempt to lose weight, however, I began to eat right (lots of fruit & vegetables, cut out sweets and fried food) and I only gained 20 lbs. during the whole pregnancy. I hope all goes well with you.

Now is not the time for you to lose weight. Rather than hurt your unborn baby's health by depriving it of food, just wait until your baby is born. Then you can go on a diet.
To keep in the best shape possible for now, AVOID all junk foods in your diet, such as chips, fried foods, chocolate, candy, crackers, cookies, ice cream, frozen yogurt, frappucinos and fancy coffee drinks, french fries, hot dogs, etc. Also avoid mayonnaise, full-fat cheese, bacon, butter, sour cream, and foods made with white flour.
In other words, avoid empty calorie foods that are high in fat and sugar and low in nutrients.
Focus on eating tons of whole fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as whole grain (brown) rice, baked potatoes, whole grain pasta, lean protein (chicken or turkey breast), reduced-fat cheese, fat-free yogurt, skim milk, 1 percent cottage cheese.
If you eat nutrient-dense foods and skip all the fattening junk, then you and your baby will be better off.
Also, take a long, brisk walk every day, about 2 miles per day. This will put in the best shape possible for labor and delivery.
Good luck. And wait to lose weight until the baby is born!

You don't need to lose weight while pregnant. The baby relies on the nutrition that you eat to keep it healthy and make it grow. If you want to stay in shape, then eat fruit and drink water, take a water aerobics(Low impact) class. Please don't try to diet while you are pregnant, if you are worried about gaining too much weight while preg, then talk to your doctor they will be able to help you.

I agree with the others about not losing weight during pregnancy - but you can control your weight by eating healthily and getting exercise as appropriate for your condition. I gave birth about four weeks ago and ate a lot of cereal when pregnant to avoid major weight gain - it kept me full but not fat! :) Good luck!

Do yoga! You don't want to loose weight but it will help things go smoother and keep you toned. There are special yoga dvds for women who are pregnant. Its not strenuous & its even safe for the baby (you should definitely check with your doctor first, though). Exercising while pregnant can help you loose weight faster after you deliver.

You should go walking and just move as much as you can. It'll help you to lose weight faster after the baby is born.

You shouldn't want to lose weight while being pregnant. Your baby needs your body too much right now. Please ask your dr. about this before doing anything. It may be dangerous for your baby.
