sin x - 2 cos x = 0
-> sin x = 2 cos x
-> sin x/cos x = 2
-> tan x = 2
:)
and theta is just a variable which sounds scary, dont worry abt that!

ok, here we go:
sin theta - 2 cos theta = 0
send 2 cos theta to other side which gives you
sin theta = 0 + 2 cos theta
that is equal to sin theta = 2 cos theta
divide both sides by cos theta and that gives you
sin theta/cos theta = 2
As we know sin theta/ cos theat = tan theta,
tan theta = 2.

First of all, theta is just a variable. Greek letters
are often used to denote angles.
Next, from your equation we get
sin theta = 2 cos theta
sin theta/cos theta = 2
tan theta = 2.

divide both sides by cos theta....

sin theta - 2 cos theta = 0
----------- -------------- ---------
cos theta cos theta cos theta

sin theta/cos theta = tan theta
2*cos theta/cos theta = 2*1=2
0/cos theta= 0

so our equasion becomes

tan theta - 2 = 0

bring the 2 over on the other side.

tan theta = 2
