if it is a personal check you have up to 6 months to cashed it. but if i were you, i would try to go to the bank where the check was issued to make sure that the account is still open and it has funds in the account so you can get your money.

regarding business accounts, it usually states on the check how long you have to cash it.

If the check states on the front "Void after 90 days" then you cannot get it cashed anywhere. The bank should reject it.
We just had someone cash one of our checks after 90 days and once it hit the bank it was returned. (we as a company called the bank to have it returned).

No, You can not the check usually has a expiration date posted it on. What you should do is call the company or the employer which distribute the check and explain that the situation and they will mail you another check.

Hurry up and cash it. In Canada, after 6 months, the cheque is deemed "stale-dated" and no longer valid.
