I went to the gynocologist office on monday because I knew i was pregnant, My period is over 2 weeks late and i was testing positive on at home pee tests. So the pee test at the doctors office comes back positive , by my caculations and the doctors I should be 6 weeks along, then he did the ultrasound and the baby is looking to be only 3 weeks along?, Any thoughts, thinking the baby may be small or just not developing, anyone ever had this experience or heard of it?

You fetal age might only be 3 weeks but your gestational age is about 5 weeks. The doctor calculates your due date based on the first day of your last period, but you typically get pregnant 10-16 days after that and even then it could take a few days for conception. I wouldnt' worry too much, wait until your next appointment and ask questions, but right now it's hard to tell because every woman ovulates at different times, and sperm can live in the body for up to 5 days in the right conditions. By normal calculation you are probably right, but ultrasounds are a lot more accurate :) Good luck and congratulations!

Calculations can easily be wrong!! This is pretty common!! There could be absolutely nothing wrong with the baby!! You probably just conceived and you just used your last cycle as the calculator!! I'm quite sure when you go back that the doctor will tell you what's going on and how far along you are!! Due dates aren't always right and that's why you have more than one!! Doctors just use the last menstrual cycle to get an idea of when you may have conceived!! Since you're two weeks late, you probably conceived during your last ovulation time which was 2 weeks before your next cycle and that's why you're only showing up as 3 weeks on your ultrasound!!!!! Congratulations and good luck!! Hope everything goes well!!

My sister had a pregnancy like that. It could be a number of things, the baby could just be small, or complications. Keep you Dr visits regular. Since the baby was small you should have another ultrasound done in a month or two. Just try not to worry!!! My sister ended up having a healthy 5 pound baby boy!

You shouldn't worry yet b/c I ended up having 3 differant due dates and 1 was even after the ultrasound and she wasnt even born on any of those dates. The ultrasound they did in the hosp. showed that my baby had stopped developing 4 weeks earlier and so I was induced and come to find out when she was born she was just a small baby. and still is.

You have to remember that the tests are not 100% accurate. I was 2 weeks behind according to the ultrasound but everything has worked out fine. I will be 37 weeks tomorrow and measured out at 37 weeks at my last appt. Just enjoy the pregnancy, and Im sure everything will catch up.

Dont stress out. Stress isnt good for you or your baby. Its too early to worry. If you know when you conceived don t worry about that early ultrasound results.I know when I conceived and was told I was 2 weeks further along than what I was and there was no way. They changed my due date 4 times in my last pregnancy!!! So please dont worry.Everything will be fine.CONGRATULATIONS!!! Enjoy your pregnancy--hope you dont get alot of morning sickness.Hope your one of the lucky ones . I had it with all 6 of mine.Just remember it will pass and your outcome is your beautiful bundle of joy.GOOD LUCK!!

6 weeks is 3 weeks. The baby's gestational age is 3 weeks along, when you are actually 6 weeks - 6 weeks from the start date of your last period. 3 weeks from date of conception.

Good luck.

doctors date you by that last day of your last period when in fact you probably conceived right before you would have started your next period. that would make you about 3 Weeks along. dont fret it happens all the time. congrats on your pregnancy and good luck
