And can it be planted from seed? We planted some type of grass from seed in our side yard. It grew and was really pretty until our dog started using it as a tiolet. Now, there are yellow dead patches and dirt patches where she has gone.
We kept her off of it but when we went out of town our neighbors did not know. Now we need to replant. Any suggestions?

Female dogs actually cause more grass burns than males simply because of the way in which they urinate (all in one spot vs an inconsistent spray).

Although there isn't a grass totally resistant to dog urine, I have read that feeding your dog foods and/or treats with Yucca Extract may reduce urine burns on your lawn. Additionally, dogs can be trained to relieve themselves in a specific area. You may want to prepare a bed of wood chips or small gravel in a corner of your yard and train her to use that area.

In southern climates, Bermuda is pretty resistant and quick to repair itself because it grows and spreads so quickly. In northern climates, Fescue has a slightly better resistance, but not by much. The acid in the urine is what burns the grass. Treat the yard with Pelletized Lime twice each year to offset the acid, and make sure the yard is sufficiently watered. The moisture will help dilute the urine.

I'm not an expert, but I think urine contains acid and no grass would be able to withstand it.

None - but ask the guy at your garden center or the local cooperative extension.

there is none.
Just make a concrete," dogrun", for your dog.
Or try to," train it", to go in the ,"neighbors yard", like most other dogs do...lol.
