some say he died on set pretending to have a heart attack and in fact he was really having a heart attack and nobody knew.

Redd Foxx died while on the set of "The Royal Family" ,of a heart attack 10-11-91, according to his website

Redd Foxx, he actually did have the big one he died of a heart attack and I belive it was in California.

He died on October 11, 1991 on the set of the TV SHOW, THE ROYAL FAMILY apparently of a heart attack. He influenced many black comediennes like Richard Pryor, Eddie Murphy, and Chris Rock.

The show was called "Sanford and Son", not "Stafford and Son" and he did indeed die of a heart attack on October 11, 1991 on the set of his new show "The Royal Family.
The cast thought he was doing his old "I'm coming Elizabeth" shtick from Sanford and Son and didn't come to his aid fast enough. He died before help could get to him.

It's "Sanford and Son"....and IMDB.com says he collapsed while rehearsing for a new show he was shooting.
