Society has it in its brain that larger girls are ugly. Why is that? Yes, ok, so we don’t have the best body, but that doesn’t me we are hideous! I am a larger girl, (Not obese, but far from a stick) and every one of my thinner girl’s friends says that ‘Ya…your ok Keri, your not hideous….’ Yet they forced when they say this. Why is it that larger people are being hated by people that are thinner?

P.S. I Think I am pretty, my boyfriend thinks so too lol. Some people say that they don enjoy looking at obese people. My say to that, is… ‘Then don’t look if it makes you that repulsed!’

Having been very small my entire life, and then becoming overweight due to a medication--I know that when you are bigger, you don't get the attention you do when you are smaller. It makes a girl feel very bad about themselves. I saw a lot of thin girls get the guy when they were sort of trashy and very flashy.
It's easy for everyone to say, you're beautiful, no matter what your size, but really, do we have many role models that are bigger than a size 4 in the media? NO......
The models you hear about are Gisele and Kate Moss. Come on. Kate Moss got busted red handed with drugs. But, yet, she is the hottest thing fashion has ever seen.
Every now and again you will hear about a plus sized model. Usually, when I heard about it, it was Emmy...the most famous plus sized model. But I don't even think she models anymore now that she's had children.
I have seen so many women who are absolutely beautiful and wear a size 16. Look at Lane Bryant's models. Yeah, they are more on the skinny side of fat, but still they aren't toothpicks. They are very pretty women.
As our society goes, we will not soon be seeing people being praised for being large. To most people, thin will always be in.

I can only answer this question personally. I don't think larger women are ugly at all, in fact many are very cute (I'm not les, btw lol, I am just saying). My issue with people who are obese and even just overweight is that it's unhealthy and I am a health nut. And sometimes it's not so nice to look at, but then some people dress better than others, right?
You're right, it doesn't make you hideous. I have some larger friends and I only worry about their health because carrying extra weight is tough on the body.
I hope this helps some.

Do you mean larger girls or obese? According to Mil Health standards I am severely overweight for my height, but my BFI is low. I'm short and curvy just like all females in my family history and yes we are a bit plump around the middle & rump. (sir mixalot's song in the 80's could have been written about us.)Are we unhealthy? No. Are we fustrated when we shop and cannot find sizes and styles to compliment us? Yes.
Are we obses? No.
So what is going on? At this rotation in history thin is in. 300 years ago plump was popular, along with curly black hair.
So I say, let it slide. Wear what you like that makes you feel good and eat what makes you healthy.

I am also a larger female and there is definately a hatred or disgust from most people for a larger girl. I was told once it was because we don't look like we have any willpower or self control. Stupid when sometimes your diet has little to do with it. My problem is mostly genetic, issues with my thyroid and diabetes but people assume your sitting at home eating cupcakes.

So many people crinkle their nose whenever they see an obese person walking. They automatically judge them. I have no room to say that I know how it feels, but I bet it really sucks being obese. Some people can't help it either. It is like some kind of disease. I personally don't mind them at all. Some of my best friends are obese.

It's what our culture see's in the media...but not true for all cultures. Healthy, confident and happy- cliche, but also incredibly attractive!!! I have a stick-ish bodytype (I'm a runner), and believe me: guys don't dig it. I've been told many times to "gain weight". Oddly enough, GIRLS act envious of my body. Strangeness. My point being, guys don't like thin girls, but girls aspire to be really, really thin because the pressure women put on each other. You are beautiful =)

I tell ya what,I used to make fun of people who were bigger than me but not anymore! I am now bigger than those I used to make fun of! People should watch how they judge others,I learned that the hard way! Thin and pretty girls might not ALWAYS be so thin and pretty! So think before you judge!

Because the way society indicates that Thinner is better.
People are enforced sometimes by what they see/hear.
Although it's not true..it's what's on the inside that counts.

they are shallow people that you shouldnt even bother with, the more comfortable you are with your body the more men will notice, guys like girls with confidence, so you have to love yourself before anyone else can, women are beautiful no matter their size, and half the people that are SUPER skinny dont realize how unhealthy & unattractive that is, last time i checked noone liked back bones & collar bones being visable & sticking out - aslong as you are happy with your self, you will see men & other people will like you for who you are!
