Here's the problem, I have gnats all over my house and I don't know how to get rid of them. Those sticky fly-paper strips don't work, the gnats won't stick to them. I can't use any bug spray, like Raid, on them because I have a young child and 4 cats that I don't want to risk harming. Does anyone know anything else I can try to get rid of these annoying little pests once and for all?

They usually hang out in the garbage. Get rid of any food waste from the house. Spray the waste basket with bug repellent and they'll stay away from the can itself. They only live a couple of days, and they'll be gone.

Indeed very pesty. What you can do is get a bag of apples. Keep them outside until they are rotting, now put either glue or rubber cement all over the apples (make sure they are totally covered) and place one in each room. If this doesn't work I would suggest going to a local Wal-Mart or other convenience store and getting bug bombs. Go away for a weekend, cover any food/cat food and the cat litter. Leave with your pets and child and stay at a friends house or a hotel, set them off, and come home later. BUG FREE IS THE WAY TO BE! :-D

Get rid of any fruit or food of any kind you might have sitting on counters. Do not leave any dirty dishes/glasses/food sitting out.

Clean all your counter tops, sinks with a Clorox/water mixture.
Something is attracting them. The fall season, for some reason is also the very worst time for these little critters!!

Also, look in all your rooms. There could be a small piece of any kind of fruit or food stuff where you might not readily see it........

We had that problem a few years ago and used a small dish of citrus dish detergent, they are attracted to the smell, and get stuck in the liquid. Then they are easy to just wash away!
