Has some broken parts in the machine for some time, also, we have had some difficulty shutting the door for over a year now - finally, the hot water has stopped circulating inside the unit. My husband wants to pay for a repairman but I am not so sure that it's worth it.

Saw the same problem on This Old House. The repair man recommended replcing it since it was so old. It costs about $200-300 to repair it (parts & labor). You can buy a new one for about that price.

Yes -- by all means you should throw out the 13 year old d/w and get a new one. This thing will turn into a money pit if you have it repaired -- fix one thing -- then something else breaks. You need to "upgrade" to a newer model.

Not worth fixing

Buy a new one.

It'll probably cost the same or more to fix the old one!

I would replace it, but wait until January when major appliances go on sale.

See if you can get free estimates first. If not, I would recommend going to purchase another one.
