My fiance doubles over in pain when he eats sometimes. It used to be everyday, but now it's not as bad. He doesn't have insurance, so thats why he hasn't been diagnosed yet. Probably an ulcer, right?

It could be a lot of things. A trip to the doctor now will be cheaper than waiting for it to get worst. An ucler can turn to cancer if left untreated.

I had galbladder problems starting in my early 20's. The pain was worse than childbirth!! Certain foods triggered the pain, mostly spaghetti (my favorite). It started in the center of my stomach, just below the ribcage & would rap around the right quadrant of my stomach & would last 10-30 minutes. Well, as the years went by & the emergency room (kaiser) telling me I had gas & gave me pepto, the episodes got so bad & would last hours (up to 10 hours that last time) and could not make the pain go away by changing positions or trying everything imaginable (alka seltzer, gas-x, etc.) I finally found a doc that sent me to get an ultrasound & sure enough, gall stones. Unfortunately they have to take the galbladder out but it was so worth knowing I'd never have that pain again. Good luck!

My husband has the same problem. He has been checked for ulcers and don't have them. He just has bad reflux and indegestion.I would buy the Prilosec OTC. Just take that before a meal that would normally trigger that or take it everyday. You may also have to take an antacid once and a while. The only reason that I tell you to do this is because you cannot see a doctor. He needs to do something to treat it until he can see one. If it goes untreated the acid can then cause an ulcer or other serious complications. Just make sure that he is not allergic to it, and please try to find a way to get him checked out by a doctor.

Better take that fiance of yours to a doctor, insurance or not. He could be lactose intolerant, have an ulcer, have perhaps just gas pains, or something really serious like gastroenteritis, Crohn's disease.
By the way, if he has appendicitis, it can be deadly if not looked after too, and sometimes eating certain foods irritates an infection-prone appendix.
Take him to the doctor SOON.

this pain can be a number of things from ulcers, gallbladder disease to intestinal ischemia. All of these can be treated but you need to be diagnosed. You may need a trial of acid blockers, an EGD, or an ultrasound depending on what the MD thinks the problem is and what he wants to rule out. Depending on what it is then he may need a surgery or a vascular procedure. Go see a doctor to make sure it's nothing serious.

Not having insurance is a poor excuse for not getting medical care. I suspect this question is just a plant and that you are one of the "Universal Healthcare Socialist".

EVERY COUNTY in the USA has medical care available for those that cannot afford to pay for it. Look up your county health department in the phone book and call them to ask them where.

You may need to fill out forms and sit in the chairs at the free clinic for a couple of hours but you get to see a doctor.

Does your boyfriend work? Have a car? I'll bet he then has money for new tires when he needs them....why not money to see a doctor? If you make too much for free medical care then you CAN afford to go to a doctor, bottom line.

No, it could not be an ulcer:
It could be cholecystitis, it could be acid reflux, it could be pancreatitis or.....something serious, like pancreatic cancer, it could be....well your fiance is not going to find out if it needs to be treated unless he sees a doctor.
So suck it up and go to an urgent care clinic and get it checked out.
