Hi im so confused on this topic quite a bit because nobody can help me out with it. So here is my question, what is the best choice for a career and future in Japan. I have memorized the basics of the written part and spoken part so far, so to learn the rest i need to have at least 2 yrs of college education but what should i promote my life to getting a masters then maybe a doctorate in? My best subjects are History, Science, and English and even willing to see about any Technology careers. I've thought about being a Teacher somewhat but am not really sure on the subject even though there is a high demand for them especially in English but as i said i'm not really sure. Oh so confusing i just want to now all the pieces are on the chess board before i make a move but all i have so far is a few pawns. So please help me out if anyone has any info i will be most grateful on the subject. Thank you

If you're fluent in both English and Japanese, you'll be fine. There are thousands of job opportunities in Tokyo, Japan. So, choose a career that you love, and you will be happy and successful in it.

I had a prestigious job that I hated, but it made a lot of money. I thought to myself that I was the unhappiest person in the world. Believe me, a six-figure salary, job title, or perceived prestige doesn't make you happy.

Do what will make you "happy" in the long run. :-)

You (as well as many others) are trying too hard!

The easiest way to work in Japan? Start out as a US Government employee. Look for jobs that offer SOFA (Status of Armed Forces Agreement) which means you are not only allowed to live in Japan, you can start off in government housing if need be. Some IT contractors like EDS and subcontractors like World IT Solutions have job openings that give SOFA status.

Anyone with a degree can teach English over there at schools like NOVA. It is done so much it is almost cliche. Teachers don't like the fact that you have to go by the books and can't be creative in your teaching methods. (No random lessons with the students are allowed).

Anyway look for civilian jobs with the different Armed Forces branches. The only problem is that vets get 1st pick, spouses of active duty military members get second pick and regular civilians are last in line.
