Still having Pain 7 months after c-section?

Question

I had a c-section about 7 months ago, and I still have pain in the area as well as numbness. Also, If I walk too fast, it feels like my pelvic bones are too far apart or something. It's very hard to describe but it's extremely awkward. I'm in great shape and lost all my baby weight so I'm not sure what's going on.... Any thoughts?

There are two reasons why your pelvic bone is "awkward"
1. A hormone secreted called relaxin, during pregnancy, loosens the pelvic joints and can actually change your center of gravity. All women get this during pregnancy. However, since you are 7 months postpartum, the hormone should decrease. Are you breastfeeding? This may help tell your body that the baby is delivered.
2. A woman's hips actually widen during pregnancy. Not all women, but most. You could actually see the widening on the hips of a female skeleton! (I had to look at cadavers and skeletons going through school).
About your pain.... 7 months postpartum and having pain is POTENTIALLY abnormal. Observe the incision site for redness. If it is red, put your hand on it and feel if it is warmer than other areas of your skin. Also check if the area is puffy. If these signs are present you might have an infection. Nevertheless, if the signs are present or not, let your Dr. know
As for the numbness...
Unfortunately, this is normal. A C-section is a surgery. Your pelvic area is cut through the epidermis, into your muscle, through veins and nerves. These areas do NOT regenerate, they are scarred. Therefore, nerve endings will NOT grow back, you will have numbness there, it's okay.
As for your friend who's numbness grew after the first C-section, this is normal as well. If you haven't figured already, I've assisted with C-sections. The second C-section requires cutting and removing all of the old scar tissue and cutting into new tissue as well, therefore, more nerve endings are scarred.

I would say go to the doc...my thoughts other than that are..my mom had a c section with my oldest brother and still has numbness (he is now 12) she just had another c section about 4 months ago with my youngest brother and she said the numbness is now in a larger area than it was before...as far as the pelvic bones thing..that sounds uncomfy, talk to your doc...I would say talk to your doc first...if they cant say what it is or give you some advice ask if it is ok to go have some work done with a cyropractor(sp) chiropractor lol..there we go..thats what I would do..good luck

I had one 6 months ago...There are times when it hurts and there are times when it doesnt...sometimes when im holding my son he can kick it and i get a little sharp pain and sometimes some numbness...i was also told that my stomach would never be the same and i would feel wierd pains every now and then..... but if you feel like you pelvic bones are too far apart i would go and see your Doc...

Everyone I have ever talked to who had a Csection says it takes a long time for the numbness to go away. I had one 4 months ago and I know I am very tender.

As for the pelvic bone thing, I have never felt that. Maybe you should mention that part to your doctor.

My friend had that issue for two years after her c-section. She had to have surgery to "reconstruct her abdominal wall". Now she runs every day & runs in races & doesn't have any pain/tingling.

the numbness is normal..Ive had 3 pregnancies...
Pain.. Im not so sure about... you may wanna ask your Dr about that one.
