There is no dictated amount you must have to be a non-profit organization... you simply need to be able to show the funds are being put back into the organization such as better equipment, materials for fund raisers, softball trips, uniforms, and of course if you are giving back to the community some way. The funds CAN NOT be given as compensation to players or as income for the president, ceo, powers that be of the organization.

As long as the money belongs to the organization and is not given out to shareholders, it doesn't matter how much money you have in the bank.

Of course, for a small softball association, I wouldn't have tens of thousands in the bank or something ridiculous like that. It might look suspicious, and they could investigate your non-profit status.
