If you determine the iron is ok by using at another outlet or in a friend's home the problem is within your house.
If the fuse blows immediately it may indicate a short circuit within the iron.
If it blows within a minute or so it could indicate an overload on the circuit, possibly due to something elsewhere in the house. Do you notice any other items shutting off at the same time the fuse blows? Try to find a circuit with nothing else powered to use the iron.
It is highly unlikely that it would require a fuse larger than 15 amps. Without having knowledge of your home electrical system I would not advise changing to a larger fuse.
If you can not make the iron work on a 15A fuse with no other loads the problem is most likely with the iron. Buy a new one and try your luck again.

Water is getting into the electrics of the iron and short cutting the circuit. This is dangerous so get a new iron.

Not enough information! Is it tripping a circuit breaker, if so what amperage is marked on it? Or is it tripping an RCD. (Earth leakage circuit breaker) which will have a test button on it? Common cause with steam irons is overfilling or leaky tank causing water to trip an RCD. due to earth leakage. Is it a steam or dry iron? Will elaborate when I know the answers!

The insulation of the iron's element is breaking down. This is causing the circuit breaker to trip out

Your iron either has a short in it or it's use is overloading the circuit. Try it in another room farthest from the first outlet. If it blows a different fuse, trash it and get a new one.
