All people deserve respect, unfortunately many people (Christians in particular) are both ignorant and cruel to gay people. It makes it difficult for gays to respect them in turn, thus the conflicts which exist. Gays have proven themselves time and time again but to no avail. There comes a point when you realize you will never get respect from certain people, you just need to shake your head, think of how sad their lives must be, and just move on. I will not beg for respect or acceptance, I either get it or I simply cut you out of my life.

There is no group or person who 'deserves respect' simply for existing. Individuals deserve or fail to deserve respect based on their actions and/or accomplishments. Some gays, like some straights, deserve respect and others don't. WHENEVER you try to lump an entire group together as if they are all the same, that is bigotry.
