Maybe she could consider reading the books, instead of trying to get them banned just because the word 'witch' is used. An underlying theme of the novels is tolerance and respect for other cultures, races, and religions.

Wicca isn't evil, and neither is Harry Potter. Harry Potter's magic is very different from real Wiccan practice, which is more about reverence for the Gods and nature than practicing magick. (There's no real worship in Potter's practice, and I *wish* I got such instant results!)
The camp whose brochure she held up as if it was a dead rat, that's for Wiccan families who want their children to learn their value systems and not feel like the only child of Wiccan parents ever. It is not an attempt to convert anyone else's child. Christians also have camps.
I am amazed that in this day and age, when it's so hard to get kids to read, people try to ban something that makes kids actually want to read. How often do you see a kid get more excited about a 500-page book than a video game?

This lady is an idiot that needs to find something more worthwhile to fight against. Her retarted doctrines and mislead beliefs against a BOOK are ridiculous. And, she has other problems more important to think about. Mainly, she should be thinking about how her belief sytem is robbing her of the pleasure of enjoying things like Harry Potter. Maybe she would be better off if she just went away and shut-up. By the way, she also helped in getting spanish books banned from the same library because "our tax dollars may be going to entertaining illegal imigrants." The library turned that decision around, and now has the spanish language books once again. Oh ya, this lady is a nut!

As a figure and taxpayer, Ms. Mallory has a suitable to challenge what books her little ones have get entry to to and her taxes bypass in direction of paying for. Her case will fail, even with the indisputable fact that, because there is not any regulation antagonistic to having books in a college library which communicate or promote faith, even with if it were authentic that the Potter sequence promotes the Wiccan faith, which it would not. that's a paintings of fiction, no longer a textbook. At perfect she might want to have it removed from a required summer examining list, if it were on one, yet she will be in a position to no longer get it banned, for then someone of a diverse non secular faith might want to search for to have books that contain her faith banned for an identical lack of useful justification. What Ms. Mallory could do is administration what her own little ones examine. If she would not favor her 4 kids examining Harry Potter, she easily has the right to forbid them to examine them out. lead them to examine _Tartuffe_ fairly.

First of all, there is nothing wrong with Wicca; it too is a peaceful religion.
Second of all, Hary Potter books in no way support Wicca. As far as I can tell, the wizards are Christian.
Third, you should make a point to read banned books. They can be some of the most powerful books ever written. (i.e. 1984)
Fourth, book banning and burning is evil in general. Let no one destroy the written word!

OMG are you kidding me? It's a STORY, a fictitious STORY for the AMUSEMENT and ENJOYMENT of others. God, has America really gotten so bad that you can't even write a good STORY anymore?
That chick-and anyone who agrees with her-is a nut-job. Harry Potter is FAKE, and people have been practicing Wiccan for years now-before Harry Potter. Does she want to ban the religious interest books on Wicca, too?
What a wacko.

No.
The day a kid drowns because they were emuating Jesus and trying to walk on water in a storm, is the day people will want to ban the Bible.
As it is, the content of the Bible is so adult, that it should be restricted reading to only those over 18 or with parental gudience and consent.
The Bible has young girls getting their father drunk and having sex with him to have babies by incestious, non-marital means.
If any other book did something like that, people would ban it or make it so you have to be 18 to buy it.

It doesn't matter if the HP books are evil and they promote human sacrifice. The point is that it is NOT up to one woman to decide what a PUBLIC library carries. If she feels that strongly about it, she is perfectly free to not allow those books in her home. It is not her job to tell the rest of us what is acceptable to read or how to interpret those books.
BTW... she is basically BANANAS!
