If only we could connect a dynamo to their rotating caskets, we could eliminate our dependence on foreign oil.

I think a little under half of them would be proud of us for exerting so much power in the world.

I think the majority, among them Jefferson and Washington, would be disappointed in the U.S. People for not doing anything to stop this madness.

We have let them make us hated abroad, and take away most of our freedoms at home -- even those explicitly mentioned in the original, unamended Constitution, like Habeas Corpus!

And where are all the neocon posts? I was expecting most of these posts to say stuff like, "Absolutely, Jefferson would be appalled at the current criticism of the Bush administration!"

While our country is different from what it was in the early days after the formation of the US, they tried their best to built it to grow, which it has. Times change, the agenda of the population changes and our government has changed with it. George Washington knew this all to well, as did John Adams, Jefferson, and Franklin to name a very few. I would think they would love our current America.

I'm not sure that the past century in particular would cause them any unrest. But the one specific issue that I think would upset Mr. Jefferson in particular is how little control the people now have over their government.

I think they'd be so mad, not at Bush or Kerry necessarily.. .but at us for being so biased and polarized. People who think the other party is "Evil" or always wrong....

The fact that a lot of far left and far right politicians and politically inclined have made it difficult to feel moderate now. It's all very ridiculous.

They wouldn't condone the Kennedy/LBJ/ MLK distruction of States Rights. They'd condone doing whatever it takes to protect our interests.

There would be massive grave spinning. Our federal government has grown way too huge for what they had planned. All of this welfare and social programs weren't meant to be federalized.

No. I think they'd understand. Though the whole Civil Rights movement would give them nightmares. After all, nearly all of them were aristocratic slave-owning white males, remember?

And they'd probably think we were going too easy on the terrorists.
