My dear - you are fighting a losing battle. I am the former wife of an alcoholic & believe me - you can not make him stop drinking. He has to want to do that & he's demonstrated to you that he's not going to, is not ready to, does not want to. Usually most drunks have to hit bottom before they can climb back up - sometimes it happens; most times they crash & burn & take down everything & everyone with them. Get out, while you can. Find someone who doesn't drink - you will have a much better life if you do - I promise.

Alcoholism, is a disease, and he will either quit or die. you nor anyone else can make him quit, not all the love in the world can make him quit. My husband died at the age of 32yrs of age due to his addiction. There was nothing i could do to make him stop, the doctors told him a year before he died if he did not quit he would die. So, it really is a choice that he needs to make and a commitment he will have to make for himself and you can stand by his side when and if he is ready. If he is not willing or ready you are simply wasting your time. Sorry, to have to say this so harshly however, it is the truth, I am a drug and alcohal counselor I see this as reality everyday of my life and I have personally lived the nightmare. Good luck and God bless you.

Alcohol is an addictive drug to 20 percent of the people. There is no way that you can have any kind of a life with this person. He is actually two persons in one. The Alcoholic on one hand and the person who knows he is hooked but has to deny it.
Find someone to love that is straight in all areas
Don't strike out by throwing good time after bad.
Alcohol breeds lying and lying destroys relationships.

If the person has a problem quitting that's one thing, if he doesn't want to is another. If he doesn't want to then your feelings are not important to him. Get rid of. HOWEVER, if he can't, then he needs a twelve step program. When people become addicted it's not that they don't love you, it's that we can't stop. First you have to access which one it is. If he is addicted, try getting him help and you.
Experience:Member of a twelve-step program

Keep trying just let him know how it makes you feel and how much it hurts you when you see him drinking. If that doesn't work, go to his friends to get them involved to help.

You need to leave him. If you think that you can change hime, you're dead wrong, but if you want to try anyway, try an intervention with the people that matter most to him. He needs treatment.

22 years sober here; to not keep. do not get pregnant. Believe me, this is really good advice. IF he gets help and remains sober at least one year and continues his program, consider the new him, and whether it is worthwhile to try again.

it's all up to U gal if you still love him so keep! but, try not to be blind. just give him more attention and time and one more tme to try. but if this guy do not want to understand Ur real intention inside and do not want to do it for your love, then it's time to make a move.
