Reservations are SUPPOSED to be Independent countries, ruled by the Indians as they see fit. We have frozen them out financially, take their land when it is profitable, and continue to wreck havoc on their lives. Gambling has been the true come back of Indians, and now the states want a piece of that action too...there is no justice, EVER, when it comes to American Indians. good luck

Hey, Rock, FOOL! He said AMERICAN Indians! We were here first. Why don't you take YOUR bigotry back to India, huh?
I do believe they should be truly sovereign. Unfortunately, ours is a land of double, triple, and multi-standards.
Native Americans would have every right to withhold gaming taxes from the government if they wanted, but in the spirit of true participatory citizenship, they seem to be more than willing to pay taxes. Even though the U.S. has broken every treaty they've made with our people, we (the Indians) are still willing to do the right thing, paying taxes on the gaming money.
Yet, even with that, corrupt or unthinking governors, like Schwarzenegger actually try to demand HIGHER than normal taxes citing that gambling money should be taxed at a higher rate.

Totally agree with zeebya. Of all the treaties made by the USA with the indigenous people of North America, not a single one has been kept. Gambling casinos are Native Americans revenge, and in my book they deserve every penny they get. And once more reservations are supposed to be their sovereign land. They have their own government, police force, etc. Again its the good Ol USofA needing money and looking around and seeing the Casinos making a lot and saying hey we have got to have some of that....sound familiar!
