to make their kids breakfast in the mornings or dinner for that matter instead of doing fast food or ordering a pizza?
Im so stumped by this and dont use that addage of were so busy.
YOu could make it the night before, put it in the frig and reheat and have a warm breakfast for your family
Growing up my mother always made us breakfast, even if it was just oatmeal or cold cereal.
Do you think people are lazy and don't want to get up 30 minutes earlier to make a healthy breakfast?
or
is family time not important to alot of people ?
your thoughts>?
and yes my family eats every meal together actually

june you are so right. It seems like being a family is overrated and burden to most

asex, see you have your priorties different, you think karate and other activities are more important than cooking a healthy meal for your child. good for you and your family. I love seeing people make up excuses. Believe it or not even though I am a stay at home mom I am busy too but I make time.

i think people that don't make meals at home
A- don't leave themselves the time to do so
they rush through their day in a panic
nothing is well planned
and so fast food picks up the slack
or
b- they don't realize the crap they're eating when they eat fast food
or
C- they don't realize how much money they're throwing out the window
we don't eat out at all anymore
since we got a nice tax return a couple of years ago
then it was all gone two weeks later
and we looked at our on-line banking
and realized that like seven hundred bucks had been spent on fast food
maybe some people don't know how to cook either though
i dunno

OK. Your question is all over the place. First you say kids should have a warm breakfast, then turn around and say your mom sometimes gave you COLD cereal. Then you target family time, but gripe about Pizza or fast food. Just because every meal isn't home cooked, doesn't mean no family time is being spent together. My husband and I are very involved with our children. They do always have a healthy breakfast, BUT, at night we usually ARE to busy to cook. We do Tae Kwon Do 3-4 nights per week with the children in an organised class, we help with homework, go for walks, go to the park etc. PLENTY of family time. So, so what if we buy food out and bring it home or sit in a restaurant and eat it. We would rather do that than spend the time cooking!

I agree, sometimes though, it is not a matter of laziness, but a matter of illness. Although I believe people would feel much better if they had a good meal every evening. I do not agree with processed food as a regular meal. These things contain no nutrients. And why are parents still buying sugar cereals? There is as much sugar in a chocolate bar!! I am not perfect, but I try, and we are as busy if not more than other families. My mom used to make up a weeks worth or more of meals and freeze them, then when things were tight on time we would have a warm bowl of chile or stew. I'm home so I don't need to do that. People's health and family values have gone down majorily. It amazing how a lot of families do not think they intertwine. Check out www.flylady.net. She talks about blessing your family with healthy meals, snacks and a clean house at just about 1 hr of work a day and even less if you freeze your meals.

I think it's a little of both. I have always been the type of mother to make sure my children were fed home cooked meals at every meal. I worked full time, but you are right, freezing meals that you have prepared is a great way to ensure your families nutrition requirements. Raising children today seems really different than it used to be. I'm not sure that's a good thing.

Some people just feel they are too busy to make anything anymore. Some are too selfish because they are more concerned about their own lives. While some are like the convenience and are too lazy to make anything. My middle brother and his wife fall into the last category.
