within the atom you have:

neutrons (a charge of 0 but a mass of 1)

and

protons (a positive charge, and a mass of 1

in a cloud around the atom, althoughf or your purposes circling the atom you have electrons, they have a mass of 1/2000 (one two thousandth) of the neutrons, and a negative charge

I guess you posted your question becasue you need information.

Look at the following table:

Name of particle....Position............. Mass...........Relative charge
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Electron..........Orbiting nucleus.....9.109x10^-31 Kg.....Negative
Proton.............Nucleus................. 1.67 x 10^-27.. Kg.......Positive
Neutron...........Nucleus................. 1.67 x 10^-27.. Kg..........Zero

As you can see the proton and neutron have the same mass and both of them have a mass equal to 1833 times the correponding to the electron mass

Relative charge of Electron and Proton is the same but with opposite sign. Neutron has an electrical charge is zero.

Hope it helps.

Good luck!

What grade are you in? This is too easy. You spent more effort typing in the question than it would have taken to look up the answer.
