I would have a look at the email headers as well as the url that is being linked to. By examining these, you should be able to get a good idea if the message is genuine. I suspect it is not genuine as most Yahoo notices of this sort come from the automated system using CC for customer care in the address. Another thing to ask yourself is if you have been doing anything that violates the Yahoo TOS. If you are innocent, then you are less likely to be contacted by Yahoo for purported abuse.

Hi,

As with all suspect emails

DO NOT REPLY

go the the suposid senders site directly findout what their e-mail address is and send them a completly new email stating that you have recived an e-mail claiming to be from them.

"I keep getting an email from abuse@yahoo.com telling me to reply to a link giving my email address is it ok?
If I don't comply I will be suspended from Yahoo within 24 hours"

Why yould they need you to quote you email addess if it was genuine ? they would already know your address, they did send you an email after all.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Dont click the link - your account will NOT get suspended - some crappy con artist with an interest in sending you (and 1000's of other people probably) Spam (junk) email is after your address.

If you click it just confirms that the account is live and they know to spam you then....

Never ever ever give details out - its a nasty world and there are people out there with no conscious !

Do NOT reply to that link, not only is it phishing but it's probably got a virus attached or it could be a keylogger who will have access to your computer and your personal details. ALWAYS delete any emails when you don't recognise the sender. Not worth risking anything.

i don't believe it is phising since they aren't asking for a password, bank account numbers, credit card numbers.

i think you should comply. at the very worst you'll get a little spam out of it. spam can be blocked with email filters.

There really is such a department at Yahoo.

http://abuse.yahoo.com/

And that email address really does exist at Yahoo.

http://www.google.com/search?q=abuse@yahoo.com
