If you count baseball, Football, Basketball and Hockey, then:
Califonia has 15.
New York has 10
if you count the "NY" Jets and the future Brooklyn Nets.
Texas has 8.
Clearly Califonia has more.

All the other states have no teams, and two teams do not play in a state. The Wizards play in Washington DC and the Raptors play in the Canadian Province of Ontario.

Cali. In addition to the 12 already listed above by the guy who doesn't like hockey, they have the LA Kings, the Ducks of Anaheim, and some would include the San Jose Sharks as being in California. Which gives California 14-15. More than any other state.

hmmm...i was thinking Pennsylvania. Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, but now I'm not so sure. It's definately between PA, New York and Texas.

Cali has for mlb, the angels dodgers giants the A's and the padres.
for football it ahs the 49ers, raiders, chargers
basketball it has lakers, clippers, kings, goldenstate
so yeah cali has a lot.
