Years ago any car at an auction probably had problems. This has changed due to leasing. Now there are millions of cars coming off lease and the car lots have no room to store and sell them. They keep the ones in excellent condition and send the rest to the auction. Chances are the vehicle will be OK. If you are worried, approach a local car dealer and have him buy it for you. I believe you have to have a dealers license to buy at the auction anyway. He will charge a small fee but will check it over before putting in a bid. Also, he may give you a short warranty. A couple of hundred dollars spent now may save you thousands in the future.

My car came from an auction. It had been a rental car in another state. I had to fix the brakes on it before I could even drive it without hearing a loud squealing noise! Just be careful. Take someone who knows alot (works on) cars with you.
