No you do not need a visa if your stay will be less than 90 days.

To clarify, yes you need a visa but they give it to you as you enter the country, no need to apply in advance. (tourist 3 months, extendable to 6 months for a fee).

You need a passport if is just vacation, but if you are planning to study or work yes you need a visa.
