I live above a deli, they are very clean however I see an extermanater every once in awhile down there. I haven't seen any in my apartment but I'm afraid of having a bug problem. Is there any thing I can do to pervent having a problem

Boric acid , it is very effective when used properly for killing
cockroaches and most other insects.

Depending upon where you live, extermination activities at food sellers may be required by local ordinance.
Professional exterminators do not use the same chemicals that we can get out here in the real world. What we get are 'flushing agents', which tend to make the target insect leave the immediate area.
Pros use toxins that also have some residual effects. You can almost bet that there are no bugs, but to be sure spend a little cash and let the pro take a look around your apt.
A legitimate company will not 'invent' a bug problem, so take a look around first.

Keep a clean apartment. Take trash out often and don't leave food and dirty dishes laying around. The exterminator coming is a good prevention. Most business' do this to keep a pest problem from arising.

borax acid....which is actually a laundry agent & found in the same alise of the grocery store...sprinkle a line along all outside walls , window sills....or entry areas around pipes from the floor below....this is a nontoxic form of pest control...

Try to find some of that Chinese chalk, outline the outside of your apartment with it. It works really well

JUST KEEP YOUR KITCHEN & FLOORS CLEAN . UNDER YOUR SINKS AND IN BETWEEN APPLIANCES YOU CAN DUST SOME BORIC ACID.
