It is NOT a problem! It's a fact! However they don't so much CONTAIN Calcium Carbonate. They ARE Calcium Carbonate.

not sure about your question....I think your referring to the affect of acid rain on these substances. Places like the Pathenon are being destroyed by acid rain. The Parthenon is made up of these mineral. The same for many buildings world wide.

They corrode easily in presence of acids due to formaton of CO2 and salt

They corrode easily (e.g. acid rain).

This results in the destruction of sculptures too.
