If I were to put a copy of the Koran in a jar of urine would it be art?
Or is there so much hatred of Christians and such a huge double standard that i would be called a hater?

I only ask because of the big "PRO" muslim extremist atitude in the World about the U.S.A..
We (the USA) have been forced to be the world police for over 50 years now, and no one else will step up to the plate, so if you won't try to help the world then just shut up about it.

Whether it is considered "art" us completely up to the subjective opinion of the person you are asking. It is expression and as such is protected. I remember when that, and other, depiction of Christianity came out. Being a Christian I was offended by it, but being a Constitutionalist I also understand my offense does not trump the "artist's" right to expression. That said, no one that I am aware of from the Christian community called for the execution of the so called artist. People may have called him a blasphemer and denounced him, which is their right as their expression of his acts. But no one burned him alive or beheaded him or, as stated, as far as I know, even suggested such. You would NOT find that same tempered response from the Islamic community if you immersed the Koran in a jar of urine. You'd also have the media blaming you when an Islamist attacked, tortured, and killed you. Sad really that there are people so insecure in themselves and their religion that they stoop to such low and depraved acts in the attempt to force others into their system.

i honestly don't think that is a work of art but an insult.... Its like if someone went in church and took a cross of the wall and pissed on it i don't think anyone in the church would call that a piece of art since religion is a big issue and everyone has there own opinion but say we put the american flag in a jar of shiit ..that certainly isn't art either you are right to feel this way because i do...

The person who did "Piss Christ" was hailed by Christians as a blasphemer and was denouced all over the place. Whenever someone turns the symbology of a religion into art there will always be someone who gets offended. My opinion...offend away...isn't that part of what makes freedom a kewl thing?

The cross in the urine is art. So would the koran in urine be art. Why do you see it as hatred?

I remember that so called exibit. As an artist myself I was pretty upset with it. That's not art by any stretch of the imagination. That guy knew he would get attention so he did it. It's like that jerk over in England who put his shi t in cans and sold them as "art." After a couple of years the gasses in the sealed cans accumulated and the cans exploded all over the "art lovers' homes.

ok, i love art (all kinds. modern, classic, etc.), and i am not at all religious. all i have to say is - EWW. why would anyone want to save their urine?! who cares whats in there. it is urine!! ew. although i was taught in art classes in college that true art doesnt need to be "pretty"; it just needs to cause a huge emotional response in someone. i guess it worked in this case. it made you think, and i bet thats what the artist intended.
ps- i dont think either one should be in a jar of urine.

Why not? its portraying the unportrayable. a combination of human waste and God depicted through art. But its art which is totally disrespectful.

Not EVERYbody considered the "P!ss Chrst" to be a work of art.....as someone much wiser than myself once said: "If *I* can do it, it ain't art!"
