im 29 and i rememebr vaugely a movie i saw when i was a kid. what i remember was one night everyone went to sleep the next morning when one guy/kid got up all that was left of almost everyone was a red dust. he was all alone in a town and slowly foudn some other survivors. Does this sound familier to any of you. I know its not alot to go on and th emovie would have been mid-80's or so. Thanks for your help!

Night of the Comet it had Catherine Mary Stewart and Geoffrey Lewis among others.
CMS's character spent the night at the theater with her b/f and in the morning he went out and was eaten by a zombie. Something about lead lined buildings protected people from being killed or turned to zombies. Her sister spent the night in a tool shed to hide from their stepmother. They were eventually found by scientists who took them to a compound to try and make an antidote out of their blood. There were two children there and they helped them escape. I remember that CMS's character had found a man during the movie and the younger sister was alone, but at the end a guy comes by in a porsche or something fancy and she leaves with him...CMS's character tells her to be home early because the burden of society is upon them or something like that

Yeah, I remember that movie, the people's blood had turned to powder, so red dust. I think it was based on a Michael Crichton novel, The Andromeda Strain. I am not sure though, just a guess, I may be totally off, but I think we are thinking of the same flick.

i believe its called "night of the comet"... about a pair of sisters who survive a deadly comet fallout... finding others who survived.. and the "undead" people who were only paartially exposed to the dust..

night of the commet and it was two girls and they found other survivors it also had chakotay from voyager in it
