Hi today we have just got a new microwave as we could only get a combination one with a grill, what is the grill for, can you use it like an ordinary grill like on an oven that you grill toast on or is it just for browning. Also it says its a combination microwave and has a combination button but we arent sure what this does either and the instructions are not any help. Any helpfull answers would be brilliant. Thanks

Forget you even have it, unless things have changed over the last couple of years it is a complete waste of time. It is supposed to brown the food like a conventional oven, so it might be good for browning things like sausages or chicken but microwaved meat cooked from raw tasted yuck anyway.. it no good for toast as it will only brown one side and by the time it has browned one side it will be dry and brittle.. just use the microwave for warming up dinners and veggies.

Combination is a mixture of the grill and microwave

The grill will work just like a normal grill - that's what the rack and metal dish that should have come with the microwave are for. Do not use these metal things when using the microwave function.

The combination oven means that your food will brown like in a conventional oven but you still get the benefit of quicker cooking with the microwave.

I think it just browns - a few models do actually work like grills but most combination microwaves (including mine) just brown/

just use it as a microwave. I've never met anyone who has found them much cop (if you grill bacon then it taints everything you microwave.) I have a cassette player in my car stereo but I don't feel cheated by never using it.

the grill just browns if you were microwaving a potato topped meal then it would crisp the top but be careful because they can melt plastic containers.

I think it is just a shelf, so you can nuke 2 things at once, like a regular oven.
