Yes. The Orleans has a free shuttle to the Barbary Coast. The Barbary Coast is next to the Flamingo. Pretty much right in the middle of the strip. Have fun!!!!

Yes, there are always cabs around at all of the hotels in Vegas, plus the Orleans probably has a free shuttle to the strip (it's not that far off of the strip).

You can take a limousine instead of a taxi there....they have a thing where you pay about 10 dollars per person, and share the limo...I did when I was there, because You don't know the route, but the taxi drivers know the LONG way there....$$...The hotel management should be able to advise you the best and cheapest way to get to the strip....Also, do not leave money, valuables, jewelry etc. in your hotel room when you leave for the strip...Also, do not acknowledge the street vendors, SCAMS....Watch your purse or wallet closely, pickpocketers LOVE tourists!!!!!....In the casino's, if someone approaches you while you are gambling, and they are not casino employees, watch you gambling money and your purse or wallet...Great place to go and have a blast, but thieves love tourists and most people bring a fair amount to gamble with that they would love to get their hands on...You can bring traveler's checks and cash them in the casino...Precautions to ensure you have a great time, and not become a victim of theft...Have a blast!!

The "off strip" hotels usually have a shuttle bus that can take you to the strip. Taxi is the other way and so is the bus. I have also taken the bus in Vegas - it does have some savory characters, but it is safe.

siamsa, check out Freemont street too! At the bottom of the strip, it is the original Vegas and fun! Go near dark though as they have a huge screen overhead that puts on quite the show. Have FUN!

Back in June, taxis cost me $10-$11 each way plus tip to the Venetian. The shuttle would be better.
