well i say dont bother try another dvd-r(buy new one)
if that doesnt work try going ahead by trying to write data onto it irrespective of it showing okb if it works well there u have it ur solution and ur problem
1)solution- u can trust nero
2)problem - windows doesnt detect dvd from dvd+rw
check whether its got a compatablity issue with microsoft buddy
u would do better naming ur DVD r/+-RW drive company name

Blank DVD R is always read as ZERO. There is nothing wrong with that. You have to launch the burning software and select "Disc Information" which will tell you if the space in that disc and also if it is "burnable". Dont worry its working fine...

fishie is correct open the disc in the burn program and you will find it will read it as 4.7 gb free space
