I don't know just what type of work at 16 you would do there. Due to Blood borne pathogens and other chemicals used . I would think the law would require you to at least be 18 plus. guess you could do clerical type work. As for being 16 and handling death.....i do not know you..you may handle everything just fine..and it is a career.
Good Luck.

awesome question.......My in laws own and run their own funeral home. My brother in law is now 25 years old and he has helped out in the funeral biz for years. They sometimes have apprentices come in and shadow them in the day to day running of the funeral home business. If you have the right mindset then I think a 16 year old can certainly handle a mortuary job. Good luck!

Everyone is different. I could have when I was young. I started volunteering with our Sheriff's dept at 15 and I've seen countless dead people and I generally loved that job and never had any issues with what I saw.
Also, I wasn't goth or any other label for that matter. It just depends on your maturity level and if it is something that genuinely interests you or if you are getting a kind of voyeuristic kick from it.

why not? death is a natural part of life. when i was about 11 or 12 i helped my uncle, one summer, at his funeral home. i don't think I'm very warped and i doubt that the summer i worked there had any thing to do with it

Why not? Every industry can be a career.
But at 16 you should be at school.
