Yes, sugar cane. The only difference is brown sugar has had molasses added to it to make it brown and give it's distinctive color and flavor.

yes they both come from the same plant - sugar cane. the difference is in the processing of the cane. brown sugar gets its colour from molasses while the white sugar is further refined to remove the molasses.

Brown sugar is white sugar with molasses. Molasses only comes from sugar cane, as a by-product of white-sugar production. The by-product from beet-sugar refining is MSG.
Brown sugar could be a mixture of molasses from cane, and white sugar from beets.
