I don't know what you mean. You personal philosophy is how you think about and interpret the things you come in contact with. How can it be good or bad? As a job, philosophy degrees are probably only really good if you want to be a college professor or minister or lawyer. Learning about the philospohies of others is great because it teaches you critical thinking skills and that there is more than 1 way to look at something.

Philosophy is the love of knowledge. It should NEVER be confused with sophistry, which is nothing more than nebulous reasoning, never clarification of truth. The study of Philosophy enriches the students and teaches us how to understand realities based on truth and evidence and avoidance of circular- and unfair argumentation.
It is the academic study of the most general, concrete and abstract features of the world and categories with which we think: mind, matter, reason, proof, truth, etc., the rational investigation of questions about existence and knowledge and ethics. The methodical and systematic exploration of what we know, how we know it, and why it is important that we know it taking into account all that is rational and irrational. It is the search for truth in all matters and disciplines such as history, physics, or law seeks not so much so solve historical, physical, or legal questions, as to study the concepts that structure such thinking, and to lay bare their foundations and presuppositions.
Is philosophy good? Nothing is better than the truth, wherever it leads us.... but we must study philosophical principles in order that we can RECOGNIZE truth when we're faced with it... otherwise, we'll stumble and fall over it, curse it and never recognize it for what it is!

Asking for short answers to the question of whither philosophy is good or bad is like asking a one-legged man to ride a bike.

Philosophy is now an English word, but means friend of wisdom in Ancient Greek. Philos is friend, sophy is wisdom. I personally think having a good relationship with wisdom doesn't hurt.

Philosophy is, I think, a good thing, but it's often misused or misunderstood and that generally creates problems. It's something to be done and used responsibly.

Philosophy is good if it does not propogate hatred towards other people.
Good philosophy is only good for one if he or she tries to live by it.
Otherwise it is just a jug-saw puzzle that entertains the mind.

A love of knowledge (Philosophy) is good because knowledge is power (Francis Bacon), it gives us the ability to control our environment to our advantage.

if it is my philosophy it is good, if it is others it is bad,
why ? I think it is obvious,
when you get such company (friends or wive/s) you tend to become a philosopher, it is one of those evolutionary thing; a mechanism developed by brain to reduce your pain.
