You can do that, but it will decrease the airflow by 50% of the existing pipe. I think it would be better to go from main trunk. hope this helps

Yes you can, but remember you are taking some of the airflow that was supposed to go to where ever that duct went and diverting it elsewhere, so you may see a temperature drop in that area. Plus, without knowing the design of the ductwork, you might also not get enough heat from your new duct.

well u should really come off the trunk.

a 6" vent will flow about 110 cfm at .10" of water pressure (standard duct pressure) and an 8" will flow 220 cfm. most air conditioners supply 400 cfm per ton, so you can quickly overwhelm you ac system by adding more vents.

It should come off the main trunk line & dont forget about the return except in kitchen or bath.

You can, but you will see less airflow from the the ducts you have created and used.
