If he's on the right antibiotics he should notice he's feeling better within 48 hours of starting them. If he's no better after than, get a sputum sample and get the doc to send it to the lab for culture and sensitivity - this means that the right antibiotics can be given. Make sure he finishes the course even if he feels better, if he stops before the course is finished, the infection is likely to come back worse than ever and be much harder to treat.
In the mean time, give him plenty of fluids, and if he develops a high temperature give him some junior paracetamol (not aspirin as this can cause stomach upset). If he starts shivering, check his temperature - it's likely that he's too hot rather than too cold. If this happens, sponge him down with tepid water to help bring the fever down - don't wrap him up even warmer as this will make the temperature even higher. Hope he feels better soon. :)

I had pneumonia when I was a kid and it was horrible. I was hospitalized for around 2 weeks, doctors did not see any improvements for the first 72 hours. They could not make the fever go down with anything, so as a last resource they started putting me inside the bathtub (filled with ice and water) every couple of hours whenever my fever increased too much. I think I started getting better after the 72 hour period, but my pneumonia was really severe. I hope your kid gets better and that God protects him. Now that I'm a bit older and I have read about diseases (oriental beliefs on the causes of diseases), have come to understand that they are caused by our feelings and thoughts. Usually diseases associated with the lungs are inability to express feelings or feeling unloved. If you know what emotion is causing your child ot get sick, you can can definetely fix it. I had pneumonia when i was 13, about14yrs ago. I was wrongly diagnosed with flu for 1 week before and i ended up in hospital for a week on intranvenous antibiotics afterwards. It was not a very nice illness and my chest really hurt ! Make sure your son stays warm and indoors and if no improvement in 2 days take him to a different doctor for a second opinion

My son had pneumonia whilst he became into 10 months. I had no thought until eventually one night he spiked a one hundred and five fever and became into completely torpid, like could not stay conscious in any respect. Then i found out he were coughing for it slow, so it were there for awhile. it rather is risky yet not deadly, and if it rather is minor then it rather is treatable with antibiotics. He have been given IV antibiotics interior the ER and then antibiotics at homestead, and it became into long previous in a week. they did not even shop him interior the wellness middle in a single day, as quickly as the fever got here down and he have been given the meds, they sent us homestead. it is going to likely be ok.

I just took my daughter to the er two nights ago and found out she had pnemonia. The dr gave her an antibiotic and pain killers because her back was so sore from her lungs. She also could hardly breathe because of the pain. The dr also told her she could go back to work after on day off work. She is doing a little bit better I think it just takes time and also I think we caught it in the early stages. I hope your child gets better but if he gets worse I would take him back to the dr. Good luck.

I had it twice. Once when I was young. The fever should go in about two days but the other symptoms should take between four days and a week. Make sure he drinks lots of fluids as this improves the recovery time a little I think. Good luck.

depending on the severity of the infection, the antibiotics should effect improvement within 48 hours. The fever should go down, the cough will take a little longer to go away, and he should be feeling better within three days. It could be faster than this or slower than this, but these are averages.

Sorry to hear about your boy. I got pneumonia when I was 26 & with no antibiotics it only took maximum 10 days to recover fully but felt 70% better after 7 days. I have 2 young children myself so I know they bounce back quicker especially with antibiotics.
Hope this helps

you should see marked improvement within a few days- if not take him to pedia- my daughter got really sick and the dr. said it was just a cold, well, she was so sick inside her body was reacting with welt- like rashes on outside. she had pneumonia and a diff dr. said it was the body's way of saying 'look at me, somethings wrong" she had to take breathing treatments and narcotics- which was kinda scary b/c she was like "mommy, this med makes me feel good, i want more" and im like great, they gonna turn her into a druggie at 9! i hope your sweetie feels better soon
