Make the newspaper the one source that is competely reliable for accurate unbiased reporting. Tell people what is going on, not only in their local area but in the world. Why is a story about a girls lost puppy considered better news than Darfur, which hardly gets any news coverage in the papers? The newspapers shouldn't be afraid of anything, especially if they are speaking the truth. Newspapers should also have good columns that readers can look forward to reading every day or week. Lastly, a newspaper needs to have thorough information about everything happening. I hate when I open the paper and see a picture of something that happened yesterday that I never knew about. Whats the point in covering the story if you never advertised it?! Those are just a few of my thoughts on how a paper could be better than television.

Find a way to make Newspapers more appealing than television and internet.

For one, advertise and center on how reliable print is, compared to the competition. Most people will believe what they read (from a decently reliable source - not tabloids) before something they see on YouTube or what Bill O'Reily tells them.

Also, offer more features in a newspaper than the online version of the paper, such as births, certain classifieds, etc.

Those would be my suggestions.

I think it's changed because people prefer to get their news in other ways - TV and internet. I don't know if newspapers can do anything to increase readers. My town, for example, started charging to access their online newspaper, and people were not too happy about that. Nobody wants to pay for news either!
