wow, that is a really hard question. there have been sooooooo many in my life time. koufax, ford, hunter, seaver, ryan.......the list could go on forever......
but, i guess i'd really have to give the overall award to rodger clemens....the guy just has so many mile stones in his career..........

Roger clemens is no doubt a top 3 pitcher of all time let alone the greatest pitcher of my lifetime or that of any one alive... i think the only person who could come close to any one alive is good ol nolan ryan

Randy Johnson is the most dominant pitcher I've ever seen. He had some great seasons with the Diamondbacks in the late 90s and early 00s. Won a World Series and WS MVP, and then also pitched a perfect game.

Roger Clemens, without much doubt. The multiple Cy Young Awards, amazing win and strikeout numbers, and a longevity that few reach.

Next to Clemens, I'd probably go with Tom Seaver, Greg Maddux and Steve Carlton. Pedro Martinez was as good as anyone in his peak years, but he doesn't have the longevity I'd look for as a sign of being a legend.

3 greg maddux

nolan ryan was overrated. he gets way too many points for strickouts n longevity. but if u were 2 take the best 5 years of each, i think i got it right. (i couldnt argue w some1 saying randy johnson though). that's why along this line of thinking, the greatest pitcher of any1s lifetime is almost surely gonna b sandy koufax.

Roger Clemens.
When he pitched in his prime, it never seemed that the batter had a chance. It was like he was playing catch with the catcher.

I never had that feeling watching any other pitcher - except Sandy Koufax.

Former Brewers pitcher Julio Machado. Not for his pitching, but for his murdering. What other pitcher can say their career got cut short because of a homicide?
