I don't know cause he really shot himself in the mouth, but shot his other self in the head. I always wondered about that. I guess he made himself belive that he was killing his alter ego. And not himself. Which he did.

He shot himself through the side of his face. It did not go through his head. That is why he did not die. However his counter part thought he shot himself throught he head and that is why he disappeared.

OMG!!! OK that is my favorite movie, the reason why he didn't die is because he was shooting his alter ego, he shot himself throuhg his cheeck...so he wouldn't die he just wanted to kill Brad Pitt, watch it aboput, Oh I don't know...maybe 20 times and you wil get it, I love that movie!!

Because it wasn't him. You have to watch the movie over and over and over and over to even come close to understanding it. You'll notice something new each time.
