I doubt that they would be more likely. However, people that may be hiding their sexuality may be feeling a level of frustration that may make it more likely for them to act on a fetish. In todays conservative world, homosexual people would be more likely to be hiding their true sexuality and living a "double life". I think that if homosexuals and hetersexuals were equally open and accepted, there wouldnt be too much of a difference as far as percentage.

Both heterosexuals and homosexuals can be pedophiles. The underlying basis of pedophilia is an attraction to children, regardless of sexual orientation. I think the hype about pedophiles being homosexuals has to do with news stories that are out there (like Catholic priest scandals and Congressmen scandals), but that doesn't indicate that most pedophiles are homosexual (look at the guy who shot all those Amish girls, for example). Edgar Allan Poe was married to a very young girl (thirteen, I think), and if you read Nabokov's "Lolita," you'll see how heterosexual pedophilia is also a grim reality. Female pedophiles also exist, I just think that homosexual pedophiles happen to make the headlines more often, and that's why we think they're more common.

Thanks for a unique opportunity to say something I wouldn't normally get to say. I really think that pedophiles are people with some kind of repressed sexuality. So if homosexuals are out in the open and not repressing, that might make them LESS likely to be pedophiles than a repressed heterosexual would be.
So I don't think it is a matter of sexual orientation so much as whether a person is able to accept and express his or her sexual urges. But I don't think that sexuality has to be very public to be un-suppressed. I could be wrong about any of this. Pedophiles are sick and it may not be possible for a person who isn't sick to understand the mind of someone who is.

Nope. The actual statistics is that pedophiles are heterosexual males. (I would argue that they are pedophiles posing as heterosexual males).
The book: Protecting the Gift by Gavin DeBecker is a very good read on this. I do not agree with the author on all his points, but it is a great book on protecting children from predators.

Both heterosexual and homosexual individuals have the capability of being pedophiles. Pedophilia is not a "characteristic" of homosexuality. In other words you don't have to "prefer" children sexually in order to be a homosexual. However, a homosexual is more likely to have been molested in the past, and as a result he or even she---will molest other individuals; infants, toddlers, and young children.

Certainly not. Homosexuals are are a target for what society already labels "questionable or abnormal" sexual behavior. Homosexuality is not a psychological defect. Abnormalities in a pedophile are psychological and can affect anyone.

I think is the other way around. I met once a person, married, with children, and her wife had sisters with kids too. After that I was told he was pedophile, and said he won't stop. This man lives in Colombia and I hope never see or met him again.
Perverted minds exists in spite of you sexual inclination.

No. Anyone can be a pedophile. Hey, heteros sometimes molest their own children and so do family members...it's called INCEST. And oh yeah, rapists prey on kids too. I'm a survivor of rape, I was thirteen when it happened. It was two strangers that attacked me. I find it very hard to forgive both pedophiles and rapists.

NO. Just because someone likes the same sex does not mean that they like children. Think of how absurd it would sound if we asked heterosexual woman if they liked little boys! A gender preference has nothing to do with age preference.

I can't cite the exact study but I've seen them cited on tv and there doesn't seem to be a difference in rates for gays and straights.
