All of a sudden, you can't move and you are totally defenseless and vulnerable. What would be the thing you would fear most?

Being on an operating table, paralysed but still conconscious and capable of feeling pain, with no way of alerting the surgeon

Some people have gone through this exact experience. The pain is said to unbearable. Imagine having your ribcage exposed with you still awake. You can't ask for death because the anethesiologist is keeping you alive; you can't make any noises because the drugs have completely paralysed your body so the only option left is to lie there helplessly and wait for the operation to finish as quickly as possible. If you are lucky you might pass out from the intense pain but not everybody does.
