Does anyone know how much it would cost to fix the bands that are on my motor? My car is acting like it wants to cut off when it is idle and when i put my foot on the gas it seems to hesitate and then it will go once i give it more gas. Can anyone give an idea of what it is and how much it might cost?

Don't know what you are talking about...bands I think are found inside the transmission but you problem is something else. I would take the car to a garage and have a basic tune-up done. For around $100 or so they should be able to change plugs, adjust timing, adjust the idle on the carburator (if the car has one). Also change the air filter and gas filter. You might want to stop at an auto parts place and get a bottle of STP gas cleaner. The next time you fill the tank pour the cleaner into the gas tank.

OK lets assume you have a car with fuel injection it sounds like you have a vacuum leak. Even a small hole can cause what you describe as it will allow more air into the system. Also could be plugged fuel filter, but i would lean more towards a vacuum leak.
It may cost $50 for a hose it may cost $300 for tune up. Find a quality shop that works on your type of car and ask what they charge to look at it. A quality shop will charge for looking at it since it takes their time and that's how they make their money. Beware of anyone who offers to do it for free, nothing is free in life.

Bands!? Girl you don't have a clue about cars do you? A tune up can cost anywhere from $50 to $400 bucks, depending on where you take the car and what they include in their tune up. Dealerships will be the most expensive. Ask your friends and co-workers for suggestions on a good reasonable shop to take your car to.

It would help to know the make and model of your car, but it sounds like it could use a good tune up.

have you checked your fuel filter? This may be a simple but effective fix for you.
