I've seen Barbary Coast, center strip, offer some amazing prices, especially in December.
Also, the Stratosphere,, north strip, will match any price you find online.
The Excalibur has good week day rates too, south strip. Also, Casino Royale, next to The Venetian, has decent week day prices.

One of the least expensive places to stay on the strip is Circus Circus. However, the rooms are disgusting and the buffet is horrible. If you're planning on going during the week try the Monte Carlo. Beautiful hotel and rooms, good food, thin walls. We could hear the entire conversation of the people next door. Luxor and Excalibir have reasonable rates. As well as the Sahara, Flamingo, and even The Rio. It just depends on what part of the strip you want to stay on and the time of the week you plan on traveling.

Circus Circus is where we always stay...go every year. Although near the end of the strip, it's within walking distance of most of the other hotels. It's cheap and rooms are great. Stratosphere is also cheap, but right at the end of the strip...Walking to the strip at night could prove dangerous.

Believe it or not, the MGM Grand has great rates and great rooms! What I do is go to all the hotels' websites, and see who is the cheapest. If there is a huge convention or concert etc. that hotel will be expensive, so check around, but PLEASE dont stay at the Tropicana or Barabry Coast they are "Vegas Dirty" and that is bad. I wont even gamble there. Try MGM, NYNY, Mirage. Oh and I forgot about TI, they ALWAYS have great rates. Check them out too.

Then why stay on the Strip? Wasted $$. If not staying in the room much Circus-Circus or Excalibur fine but could save more if would realize no reason to stay on Strip.

On the strip? The tropicana works for best rates. The Stardust will close at the end of this month. One more nice place bites the dust

I went to Vegas for the first time in February. We stayed at the Luxor, which was very reasonably priced, and we had the best time of our lives. I used a travel website that advertised their rates as being the lowest, and offered a cash rebate if you found a cheaper rate. Sure enough, I went to the official Luxor website, which advertised a cheaper rate, sent it to the travel website, and got money back.
It really doesn't matter where you stay in Vegas. You will be so busy, you'll only use your hotel to sleep! But I highly recommend Luxor. It wasn't terribly cheesy, while still giving off the larger-than-life Vegas vibe. Have fun!

I satyed at the Monte Carlo once and I remember it being reasonable. Also have stayed at the Stardust in the tower and it was adequate and it is right across the street from the best restaurant ever! The peppermill coffee shop... Yum.

A cheap hotel on the strip is Circus Circus. Also you need to learn to spell.
