Somehow, someway, women have been brainwashed into thinking that they are naturally beautiful. Most men don't think like that, and actually thinking oneself to be handsome is considered a character flaw. Through the media women are brainwashed into spending 10 times more on clothing than men, all the cosmetics, ridiculous shoe and hair fashions. In public they must be introduced as "the lovely Ms. So-n-so" or the ravishing Miss Blah. Advice columnists like Ann Landers, etc., tell them that there's something WRONG with the man who doesn't tell his wife or girlfriend how beautiful she is at every opportunity; and women pull every feminine trick in the book to they will get that praise.
Therefore, they are more concerned about their looks and weight than men. Same with make-up, more look like clowns than normal human females.

Because women are natural weight gainers.... this was originally meant to help us survive harsh weather conditions and protect our reproductive organs, but nowadays with plenty of food and shelter, we need to be careful how we eat or we'd balloon up to an unhealthy size.

Also, we had to work hard to maintain an attractive and fashionable body shape (being fat and being thin have both gone in and out of style over the centuries) to please our men.

Men are quickly catching up though, as women have become more successful and independant, we have grown to be more discerning about men and this has forced men to become more conscious about their own appearance. And although men don't have to worry about weight-gain per say, they are working out more and attempting to sculpt their bodies into a more muscular shape.... which often requires men to try and build mass by eatng more.

Because women are more easily offended and judged because of her looks and weight by the male gender. Women don't generally pick apart a man's looks or weight, while a man and his friends can sit around for hours picking apart a woman. Society tells us what to find attractive by the people they put in commercials... Look at most models, look at most actresses... C'mon Nicole Richie is a bag of bones. You're not supposed to be able to see all of the ribs sticking out, but that's what society in general finds attractive.

because women are judged more based on their weight than guys are. Its generally true. And men might try and deny it, but just by looking at a woman (not knowing her personality or anything), they would generally chose the thinner woman. And look at Hollywood. Yes, actors are often times judged, but its mostly women, and look where that has sent some of them. Kate Bosworth, Victoria Beckham, Lindsay Lohan, Nicole Richie. All these celebrities are unhealthy-thin.

Because men care so much more about what a woman weighs than a woman cares about how much a man weighs.

Because you men are always complaining you don't like fat women!! Because we gain weight easier than men!! Because society & TV tells us 24/7 it's better to be thin! It's stupid isn't it?

two words--self confidence. men tend to only like smaller women so they feel that they have to be the perfect size to get men to think they look good.

probably to stay attractive to a man - sadly, i am guilty of it - i have dated plenty of men with guts, that did not bother me, but have exercized obsessively to stay thin & in shape - go figure - men really do rule the world - it sucks.
