If a Democrat had dared to suggest this many of you far right nutcases would be calling him a commie coward, anti-war traitor to his country. So how do you respond when one of your own says this? :

************************************************

Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, who was traveling in Afghanistan, said Monday that Taliban fighters were too numerous and too popular to be defeated. "You need to bring them into a more transparent, leadership type of government," he said. "And if that's accomplished, we'll be successful."

*****************************************

And what did the Senate Minority Leader have to say about Frist's surrender concept?

Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., in responding to Bush's criticism of Democrats, said: "His Republican leader in the Senate thinks America should empower the Taliban terrorists who aided and abetted Osama bin Laden."

*************************

Interesting turn of events, huh!

Frist has never been anything more than a mouthpiece for Bush. He doesn't have to worry about running this fall. He's giving up his seat to prepare for a Presidential run. Therefore, this statement could be very signifcant.

He could be trial ballooning the Republican's plan to let the Taliban retake the country. If the idea inflames U.S. voters, the Republicans will wait until after the elections to introduce it more fully and with more publicity. And by the time Frist is running for President, no one will remember he floated these ideas back in 06 and got people mad then.

Freeing the Afghan people from the murderous Taliban theocrats was the one good thing Bush did. Too bad Bush didn't have a post invasion plan to stabilize the country. Too bad he abandoned it. Karzai was squarely in our corner, and the majority of the people wanted a moderate government. This is where we should have done nation building and routed the terrorists. This is where Bin Laden was, and probably still is!

I was surprised to hear that from Frist. But he is stepping down to go back to running his HMO business.

Last-nights Frontling presentation on the Taliban was an amazing insight into how screwed up this mess is.

well this complication is easy to understand. It's all about the wonderfull poppies grown there and a coincidental little planned pipeline. And that's our world, thank you.
