why use a steel shovel with a wooden handle rather than a plain one with no handle?

this b'cos,the steel shovel is a metal and it will need a wooden handle to prevent burns or injury's.with it having only a plain one ,ie,when the handle is also made of metal there is heat transfer from the steel shovel to the handle where one will hold in doing things.example, when the steel shovel is left in the sunfor a longer time it get heated by the scorching and it cannot be held without a wooden handle immediately unless it is being cooled first.
i will say using one with a wooden handle is better.

The handle allows longer reach and gives mechanical advantage.
You can make more shovels for a given amount of steel.
The handles are cheaper if they are wooden.
They are more comfortable in the hand too.
As you use one the hand sweats, this can make the handle slippery.
The wood tends to absorb the sweat.

Several reasons...one is so your hand doesn't get too hot or cold.
