This is not the USA 100+ years ago when you could live off your land and be free.
Corporations in the early 1900s and late 1800s lobbied Congress to create laws forcing ppl to pay property taxes etc... in order to force them to find jobs. (referring to the ones that lived in remote areas that lived off their land)
This was a highly successful movement and helped spawn the industrial age BUT at a cost.... part of the idea of America 'the land of the free' was lost forever. For are you truly free, if you must pay the government every year for land which is already yours?

Why are the rich required to work , why is anyone required to work? Before money people used the barter system and it worked because they lived in small groups and knew what others could do and everyone worked to profit the group as a whole. In our lives today we do not have the knowledge of what our neighbors are good at and have no basis for bartering. We also do not work as a group for the benefit of all. There are just too many people to do that.

Nature. you get hungry? Who will give you food? Cold ? Who will give you shelter? Etc. Aid comes after the person earns whatever he or she can with what skills they have. People shouldn't have to give more than the minimum from their earnings to allow poor to survive. Poor must earn what they can first. I'm afraid though I am coming from a culture where not having a flat screen TV is poverty. At some point all previous luxuries like air conditioning etc. have become necessities in the US. And once you buy the poor a/c's then you have to pay that much more in utilities to keep em running.

You are poor if you don't work. Simple economic cycle. Bartering left in the Stone Ages. A currency based economy is driven by labor for pay. You can choose not to work but you shouldn't be remunerated for that choice.
If you are talking welfare, the intent of welfare is to help you get back on your feet, not sustain you for life. My taxes aren't paid into the system for you to slack off and live off of the government cheese. Get a job and stop asking questions on Yahoo.

Money is used to control others all the time .Look at the people in relationships where one works and the other cares for the family .Many of those women feel controled and minipulated by partners who with hold and control the spending of the non working partner.
\This leaves them feeling less then equal in the relationship and is often the key factor in domestic violence situations .
Money is just one method of control people use on others .
Master puppeteers use money not strings to control others .If you think i am nuts ,then talk to kids who are given money by parents for doing as they are required in order to recieve this live giving medium of exchange we all rely on .

Because our society is based on currency, so unless you're going to be a thief to get food, you should find work. If you don't work, you don't eat. And if you won't even try to work, you'd better not be using welfare, because that's a waste of my money.

Unless you live in a utopian collective, then you need money for housing, food, clothing, transportation...and to get money, people must work.
